Fifth Grade Ages 10-11 Our fifth grade program is designed to help students who are competitive and curious about the world around them. Fifth graders are at a wonderful age when their love for reading has increased. They begin to experience the thrill of discovery and imagination through text. Children will learn skills in using the table of contents and skills in using sources of information to solve a problem. They will learn how to classify, outline and summarize. Writing is a tool your child will use daily in the classroom; they will come to understand and use proper grammar and punctuation.
Your child will constantly be reviewing arithmetic facts. This is important because arithmetic builds upon itself, and it is absolutely essential to have a strong foundation and level of comfort with mathematical concepts. We help children gain the confidence they will need to tackle a variety of problems, branching out to the business world through mathematics. Above all, it is our goal to teach each fifth grader to value and utilize the tools they have learned and gain a desire to set important goals for their futures. |
